The full feature list for the owner workspace and the tenant app. Nothing on this page is planned or in beta — this is what the app does today.
The money side is built to replace a paper register, not to sit alongside one. Dues generate on their own each month for every occupied bed, so nothing depends on someone remembering to write it down.
One account covers every property you run. Each property is modelled the way a hostel actually works — floors, then rooms, then beds, with a sharing type from single up to 9-sharing on each room.
Move-in is the most paper-heavy part of running a hostel. Hostel Mitra moves the data entry to the person who actually has the documents — the incoming resident.
Most hostel software stops at the owner. Hostel Mitra gives residents their own app, which is the single biggest reduction in day-to-day messaging for an owner.
Delegating usually stalls because owners do not want staff seeing the books. Permissions are set per person, so a warden handling check-ins never sees collections.
The app interface is available in English, Hindi and Telugu, and the language is set per user — an owner can work in Telugu while a resident reads announcements in Hindi.
Hostel Mitra produces five report types: collection, dues, expenses, property ledger, and a property summary. Each can be exported as a PDF. Collection and dues show what came in and what is outstanding, expenses break down by the categories you record, and the property ledger gives a full transaction history for one property.
Useful mainly at month end, and when a partner or an accountant asks where the money went.
Yes. Hostel Mitra has role-based permissions. You invite a manager, warden or staff member and choose exactly what they can see and do. Someone who handles check-ins does not need access to collections, dues or expense reports. Every action is written to an activity log showing who changed what.
This is usually the blocker for owners who want help but do not want their books open.
Yes. Hostel Mitra handles multiple properties in a single account, each with its own floors, rooms, beds and sharing configuration. Occupancy, vacancy, dues, collections and expenses are tracked per property, and reports can be run for one property or across the whole portfolio.
Staff permissions are set per person, so a warden at one property does not see another property’s finances.
